Kennels
We offer two convenient ways for you to stay updated on your dog’s stay. You can either send us an email or give us a call. Our team will be more than happy to provide you with an update on how your dog is doing and answer any questions you may have.
The safety and well-being of all our guests and staff are our top priorities. We understand that some dogs may exhibit aggressive behaviours, and we are committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for everyone involved. Before boarding your dog with us, we require an assessment with one of our on-site trainers to evaluate the suitability of your pet for our kennel environment.
If your dog is deemed to pose a potential risk to our staff or other guests, we may still be able to accommodate them with additional supervision from a trainer. In such cases, a daily fee of £50 will apply to cover the cost. Ultimately, the decision to accept any animal into our facility rests with the discretion of the owner, taking into account the safety and well-being of all parties involved.
All dogs who have not stayed with us before are required to undergo a trial day and overnight stay in our kennels. This initial stay serves several important purposes. It allows our staff to carefully observe your dog in our environment, ensuring they can become comfortable, relaxed, and are able to manage basic necessities such as toileting and eating in a new setting.
During this trial period, we encourage you to discuss any specific behavioural concerns or requirements your dog may have with a member of our team. This dialogue is crucial for us to understand and cater to your dog’s individual needs, ensuring they have a positive and stress-free experience while boarding with us. If your dog is anxious, rest assured that our staff is trained to provide gentle, patient, and understanding care to help ease their anxiety.
We strive to create a calm and welcoming environment for all our canine guests, and we’re committed to making your dog’s stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Our services are tailored to meet the individual needs of your dog. If your pet requires medication during their stay, you can rest assured that our staff are fully trained in the proper storage and administration of medications. If you have any specific instructions or concerns regarding your dog’s medication or health needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
No, each dog enjoys their own private space during their stay with us. We prioritise the comfort and safety of all our canine guests, ensuring they are housed separately unless they are from the same household and you, as the owner, have specifically requested for them to stay together.
To ensure consistency and avoid any potential digestive issues during your dog’s stay, you’re welcome to provide your own food.
Alternatively, we also offer the option to supply food for your dog from the brands we keep on the premises. Our reception staff is more than happy to provide you with more information on the available options.
Absolutely! We are happy to welcome young dogs to our facility, provided they meet our vaccination requirements. For brief stays, we can accommodate young dogs starting from 5 months of age, as long as they have received their full set of vaccinations. For more extended stays, we welcome dogs that are at least 9 months old.
We understand that every puppy is unique, and adapting to a new environment can vary from one puppy to another. Therefore, whether a puppy is suitable for the kennel environment is determined at the discretion of the owner, taking into account the puppy’s health, vaccination history, and ability to adapt.
Daycare
Doggy daycare is a specialised service designed to care for dogs during the daytime while their owners are busy or away from home. It’s an excellent solution for pet owners who want to ensure their pets are in a safe, engaging, and social environment rather than being left alone.
Think of it as a blend of babysitting and a fun-filled day camp for dogs! At doggy daycare, your dog will have the opportunity to interact with other dogs in a controlled and supervised setting, which is fantastic for their socialisation. Activities at daycare can vary but often include playtime, exercise sessions, rest periods, and even educational games or training exercises to stimulate your dog’s mind and body.
No, not all dogs can join Crossroads daycare. In order for your dog to be accepted into our daycare, they would need to pass an assessment with one of our on-site trainers. This process allows us to ensure that your dog is suitable and best matched with other dogs who share similar temperaments and play styles.
We encourage you to visit our facilities and meet the team before scheduling your dog’s assessment. By arranging a viewing, you’ll have the opportunity to explore our daycare, familiarise yourself with the space, and ensure that it meets your expectations. This initial visit is a great way for us to understand your dog’s needs better and for you to feel assured that our facilities are the perfect fit for your dog.
While in our daycare facilities, all dogs are under constant supervision by their designated team member. Our staff are trained to monitor playtime, rest periods, and individual needs, so you can rest assured that your dog is in good hands and enjoying their time with us.
During their time with us, your dog will have multiple opportunities for enrichment, including treats and food toys provided by our team. While we strive to ensure that every dog in our care receives the highest quality of attention and stimulation, we understand that some pet parents may prefer to supply their own food and forms of enrichment.
If you choose to bring your own food or toys for your dog, please note that these will be provided to your dog while they are separated from the group, ensuring their safety and the well-being of all dogs in our care.
At the moment, Crossroads Resort is not accepting dogs under the age of 1 for daycare services. We understand the importance of providing specialised care for puppies, and while we currently do not accommodate them in our daycare program, we offer various other services tailored to meet the needs of young dogs, including puppy training classes and boarding options.
In the unlikely event of an emergency, rest assured that our team is fully prepared to respond swiftly and effectively. Every member of our staff, across all departments, has been thoroughly trained in our comprehensive emergency procedures. This training ensures that we can provide immediate care and take the appropriate actions to safeguard the well-being of everyone involved.
Our services are tailored to meet the individual needs of your dog. If your pet requires medication during the day, you can rest assured that our staff are fully trained in the proper storage and administration of medications. If you have any specific instructions or concerns regarding your dog’s medication or health needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We encourage you to feed your dog their usual meals at home before and after their daycare visit. However, we recognize that sometimes, due to various reasons, your dog may need to be fed during their time with us. In these instances, we are more than happy to accommodate their dietary needs.
We provide a separate eating space where your dog can enjoy their meal in peace, away from any distractions or interactions with other dogs. To ensure their diet remains consistent with what they’re used to, we kindly ask that you provide the food they will need during their stay.
While spaying or neutering your dog is not a requirement for participation in our daycare program, we do assess each dog individually to ensure they are suitable for the daycare environment. It’s important to note that female dogs in heat are not permitted at our daycare facility.
Additionally, our team carefully monitors all dogs for any behavioural concerns. If necessary, the removal of a dog from daycare due to potential hormonal factors is at the discretion of Crossroads Resort staff.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy offers numerous benefits for dogs, making it an excellent option for rehabilitation, fitness, and overall well-being. Some of the key benefits include:
Low-Impact Exercise: Hydrotherapy provides a low-impact form of exercise, which is ideal for dogs recovering from surgery or injury. It allows them to strengthen muscles and improve range of motion without putting excessive strain on joints.
Pain Management: The buoyancy of water reduces pressure on joints, making hydrotherapy particularly beneficial for dogs suffering from conditions such as arthritis or hip dysplasia. It can help alleviate pain and improve mobility.
Muscle Strengthening: Swimming and aquatic exercises engage a wide range of muscle groups, promoting muscle strength and endurance. This is beneficial for dogs undergoing rehabilitation or those looking to improve their overall fitness levels.
Cardiovascular Health: Hydrotherapy provides a cardiovascular workout that can improve circulation and heart health in dogs. It can also help maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of obesity-related health issues.
Improved Range of Motion: The resistance of water challenges dogs to move their limbs through a full range of motion, which can help improve flexibility and joint function over time.
Stress Relief: Many dogs find hydrotherapy to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. It can help reduce stress and anxiety while providing mental stimulation.
Enhanced Recovery: Hydrotherapy can expedite the recovery process for dogs recovering from surgery or injury by promoting faster healing, reducing swelling, and preventing muscle atrophy.
Overall, hydrotherapy is a safe and effective way to improve your dog’s physical health, enhance their quality of life, and support their overall well-being. It’s important to consult with a veterinarian or one of our certified hydrotherapists to determine if hydrotherapy is appropriate for your dog’s specific needs and health condition.
Yes, at Crossroads Hydrotherapy Centre, we prioritise the well-being of your pet. Therefore, we require a consent form signed by your designated veterinarian prior to commencing sessions. This ensures that we have a comprehensive understanding of your pet’s health needs and can tailor our hydrotherapy sessions accordingly.
You can easily download this form on our Hydrotherapy page. If you have any questions or concerns about this requirement, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team, and we’ll be happy to assist you.
From our experience, many insurance providers do cover at least a portion of hydrotherapy sessions. However, coverage can vary depending on your specific insurance plan and provider.
We recommend checking with your insurance provider directly to inquire about coverage options for hydrotherapy. Our team is also available to provide any necessary documentation or assistance you may need to facilitate the insurance claim process.
While hydrotherapy can be a beneficial form of therapy for many dogs, it’s important to recognise that it’s not suitable for every condition. Our approach to hydrotherapy is tailored to each individual dog’s needs and health status.
If your dog has multiple health issues, we highly recommend reaching out to us directly to discuss their specific condition and whether hydrotherapy would be a suitable option. Our team of experts will assess your dog’s health history and current condition to determine the most appropriate course of action.
Absolutely! Both of our Hydrotherapists are fully trained and qualified. We understand the importance of expertise and professionalism when it comes to hydrotherapy for your pet’s well-being.
We prioritise the health and safety of your pets, which is why we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness for our hydrotherapy pool. Here’s how we ensure our pool remains clean and safe for all its users:
Advanced Filtration System: Our filtration system is designed to continuously clean the pool. It cycles through and purifies the water every 2 hours, effectively removing debris and maintaining the clarity and cleanliness of the water at all times.
Water Quality Testing: We conduct monthly testing of the overall water quality. These tests are then presented for external validation, ensuring that we meet and exceed industry standards for water cleanliness and safety.
Daily Maintenance Checks: Our dedicated team performs maintenance checks three times a day, which includes monitoring and adjusting the pH levels, chlorine content, and temperature of the pool. This ensures that the water is always at the optimal condition for your pet’s health and comfort.
We understand the appeal of wanting to swim with your dog, as it can be a wonderful bonding experience. However, we advise against owners swimming with their dogs during hydrotherapy sessions.
Our trained hydrotherapists have specialised knowledge in canine anatomy and physiology, which allows them to assess your dog’s needs in the water accurately. They are skilled at tailoring a program specifically designed to ensure your dog is moving in ways that are beneficial for their health and rehabilitation.
We understand that not all dogs are natural swimmers or may have apprehensions about water. That’s why our team of qualified hydrotherapists is specially trained to help your pet become comfortable and even enjoy their time in the pool.
The initial session is crucial for building a foundation of trust and confidence. During this time, our hydrotherapists use a variety of tools and techniques to gently introduce your dog to the water, ensuring the experience is positive and stress-free. Our goal is to make your dog look forward to swimming sessions.
Training
Yes, we offer both group classes and 1-on-1 training sessions. Whether you’re looking to socialise your dog and have them learn in a group setting, or require more personalised attention to address specific behaviours, we’ve got you covered.
At Crossroads Resort, we pride ourselves on being inclusive of all breeds of dogs across our services. We believe that every dog, regardless of breed, deserves the opportunity to receive top-notch training and care.
We believe that it’s never too late to start training your dog. Dogs of all ages can benefit from training, whether they’re puppies or seniors. We encourage you to get in touch with us to discuss your concerns. Our team of experienced trainers can tailor our services to best suit your dog’s individual needs and circumstances.
We encourage owners to celebrate the small victories along the way and to view training as an ongoing journey rather than a destination with a fixed timeframe. Our trainers avoid setting a specific benchmark for the results of dog training. The process of training a dog is not linear, and can vary widely based on several factors, including the dog’s individual temperament, the complexity of the behaviours being taught, and the consistency of training both during and outside of our sessions.
A key component to achieving noticeable results is the commitment and involvement of the owner. We encourage owners to adopt a proactive approach to their dog’s training, engaging actively with the training process and reinforcing the lessons learned during our sessions.
Preparing for dog training classes is simpler than you might think, and there’s no need to overdo it. Here’s what we recommend to ensure you and your dog gets the most out of every session:
Come with a Positive Attitude: Your mindset plays a crucial role in the training process. Approach each class with optimism and patience, ready to learn and grow alongside your dog. A positive attitude will encourage your dog to participate eagerly and make learning a fun experience for both of you.
Equip Your Dog for Success: Using the right equipment can significantly impact the effectiveness of training. Depending on the class or your dog’s needs, this might include a well-fitting collar or harness and a suitable leash. If you’re unsure about what’s best for your dog, feel free to reach out to us before the class for advice.
Bring High-Value Rewards: Rewards are a key component of positive reinforcement training. Bring along treats that your dog loves or a favourite toy to motivate and reward them for their efforts and achievements during the class. High-value rewards are especially useful for capturing your dog’s attention and encouraging them to participate.
Don’t Forget Some Water: Training can be both mentally and physically stimulating for your dog, so it’s important to keep them hydrated. Bring a water bottle and a portable bowl to ensure your dog can have a drink during breaks or as needed throughout the class.
We accept puppies for our puppy classes starting from 12 weeks of age. However, if your puppy is yet to receive both sets of vaccinations, we encourage you to get in touch with us to discuss alternative options.
We understand the importance of socialisation for puppies, which is why we offer 121 options that focus on safe socialisation practices before they’re ready to join group classes. Your puppy’s health and safety are our top priorities, and we’re committed to providing a positive and enriching training experience for them.
While your dog is welcome to go to the toilet in designated training areas and on the premises, we kindly ask that you take responsibility for cleaning up after them. If your dog needs to relieve themselves in our artificial grass areas, we provide disinfectant products for your convenience.
We ask that you use these products to sanitise the area promptly after your dog has finished to maintain a clean and hygienic environment for everyone.
The appropriate age to start training your dog is as soon as you get them! Establishing a routine and building a bond with your dog are crucial first steps to nurturing a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship. Training can begin as early as 8 weeks old when puppies start to learn basic commands and behaviours.
However, it’s important to keep training sessions short and fun, considering the attention span and physical limitations of young pups. As your dog grows, training can progress to more advanced skills and behaviours.
